WordPress Resources

This is a post I’ve had in draft form for awhile now. Even though it’s not perfect, I would like to share it because it’s filled with many resources I found that help you set up a WordPress site for the first time.

I had been using Blogger for a long time before I made the switch to WordPress. After hearing over and over how WordPress was so great, I decided to take the leap and try it.

At first I was a little overwhelmed by the new structure and didn’t know where to start. After reading that the Atahualpa theme was the most customizeable, I googled something similar to “how to set up atahualpa theme in wordpress” and viola! found a video on youtube which led me to websiterockstars.com. SO helpful!!

I am visual, so seeing the process in video format really helped me get going.

Videos:

Some of my favorite videos put out by websiterockstars.com (**since I first wrote this post, he has changed his website, so I’m linking you to the videos that are still on youtube):

Then, I found Blogging with Amy!! She has so many tutorials and describes steps in an easy-to-understand manner.

My favorite:

How to create a facebook landing page. Amy states that this step was her “most successful tweak to date”. I set this up for my facebook page and LOVE it! I’ve gotten many comments on it and I’ve seen an increase in my facebook likes.

Hope this list helps!
