30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 15-18

30-Day-House-Cleaning-Challenge-533x800

I have not been doing well about posting the cleaning I’ve been doing. Life is just busy…and when you are pregnant especially there are some days you don’t feel as energetic and only get done what is necessary.

This week the challenges have been to:

Monday – Surface clean the living room and kitchen – check!

Tuesday – Deep clean bathrooms – not so much

Wednesday – Wipe down door knobs and switch plates – no, but I have done it recently

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 18 Task Clean out your Refigerator and/or Organize your Pantry

I did clean out the refrigerator. It was packed full (and had some expired items – oops)! I forgot to take a before picture, but here is what it looks like now:

Tomorrow I’ll try to tackle the pantry. It’s

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 12

30-Day-House-Cleaning-Challenge-533x800

This week was an extremely busy week. Not only did I have all my normal activities, but we were busy each night with something. Granted, most of the time it was fun stuff (dinner with my parents, date night, tango lessons, worship practice), but it was something that replaced the time I could have blogged. Real life, you know?

Most mornings I was doing some version of the cleaning challenge (except I didn’t clean the bathrooms).

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 12 Task Since it’s Friday, today we could chose to: clean out a closet or two, surface clean an extra room, or deep clean a bedroom (tasks are from this list). I split my cleaning today into different tasks: Set the timer for 10 minutes and did a quick pick up of the house. Set the timer for 20 minutes and folded the laundry and picked up

Cleaning updates coming!!

30-Day-House-Cleaning-Challenge-533x800

Sorry for my lack of cleaning updates! It’s all I can do to keep the kitchen and living room clean, get enough rest, and get Chemistry grades out! I will get to do some of the 30-Day House Cleaning Challenge tomorrow and post about it tomorrow (I hope!), and baby bump update this weekend! It’s been busy and this weekend will be even busier.

Did you have time to deep clean the living room or clean your bathroom?

newly cleaned rug

Since today was a Monday, I had lots of picking up to do around the house after the weekend. Seems like that is always the case in this house. But I also got to today’s cleaning task by lunchtime and enjoyed a mess free, stress free house!!

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 8 Task Sweep and Vacuum all the Floors in Your Home

Well, I didn’t have time or energy to sweep and vacuum ALL the floors, but I did sweep all of the high traffic areas, then moved onto to vacuum all the carpets in our home (not many of those).

I just set the timer for 20 minutes, got everything out and did the work, then put it all away. That took up the whole 20 minutes. Then it was time for a sitting break for this pregnant woman.

Don’t you just LOVE what a newly vacuumed rug looks and

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 4 & 5

Thursdays are always my very busy, gone-from-the-house-all-day days. I DID manage to set the timer for 20 minutes and start on Day 4’s task – I just didn’t get around to blogging about it.

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 4 Task Surface Clean Extra Rooms (office, laundry room, etc.)

I decided to tackle my desk area. It has been pretty messy and chaotic for awhile. When company comes over, I tend to take everything I’m working on and just dump it on my desk so that other surfaces are clean and clutter free. Here is the before picture of my desk area:

You can’t see in this before picture, but I even have a pile on the floor! First I organized the basket of pens and pencils and cleared off the area in front of my computer. That took all the time

organized dresser

Today I woke up with a sinus headache and didn’t feel well, so after seeing my husband off to work I went back to bed and slept an hour more. I was in tears when he left – poor guy – he wanted to stay behind to take care of me. Definitely feeling pregnant this week (just keeping it real!!) BUT I still had time for today’s assignment!

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 3 Task Surface Clean Your Bedrooms

Here’s what Crystal from Money Saving Mom‘s plan was:

Set the timer for 20 minutes and pick up and put away all items that are out of place. (Bonus: find 7 items to get rid of.) Pull out any items under the bed that don’t below under the bed and make the bed (wash sheets/bedding, if needed). Vacuum/sweep the room. (Bonus: use an attachment on

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 2

30-Day-House-Cleaning-Challenge-533x800

I have a confession to make…

Today I had to leave the house pretty earlier (9am) and didn’t get home until 5:45pm, just in time to make dinner. Even though I didn’t complete today’s assignment, I felt pretty good, because I had cleaned my bathrooms on Saturday for guests coming over. I used my Homemade Bathroom Cleaner on both the sinks and the toilet! Plus, have you seen my Explosive Showerhead Cleaner?

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 2 Task Clean Your Bathrooms

Here’s what Crystal from Money Saving Mom‘s plan was:

Set the timer for 20 minutes and put toilet cleaner in each of the toilet bowls and let it soak. Remove any items that don’t belong in the bathroom, put away items that need to be put away in the bathroom, empty the trash. Spray and wipe down the sink and tub. Finish swishing and

kitchen after

It’s the first Day of our 30-Day project to get the house clean! I was a little worried about getting today’s task done because yesterday I experienced my first Braxton Hicks contractions and a LOT of round ligament pain. I had to lay down and rest for the majority of the day yesterday. But today’s task only took me 30 minutes!

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge: Day 1 Task Surface Clean Living Room and Kitchen

I love how Crystal from Money Saving Mom broke it down:

Set the timer for 15 minutes and pick up and put away everything that’s out of place. Bonus project: Find 7 things to get rid of. Next, wash the dishes in the kitchen (if there are any), wipe down the countertops and surfaces in the kitchen. Finally, vacuum the living room.

You can follow along with this list —

30-Day House Cleaning Challenge in April

30-Day-House-Cleaning-Challenge-533x800

Yes, I did blog about building a cleaning routine for 31 days back in October. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up the routine too long – with this pregnancy I’ve been tired and have had a lot of more fun things to work on (like painting the nursery!). But I DID gain some great homemade cleaners and cleaning tips from that series!!

Now, MoneySavingMom has challenged all her readers to join with her in a 30-Day House Cleaning Challenge in April. Since I’ve been planning out my Spring Cleaning, I’ve decided to join in on this challenge and blog about it!!
