Hello everyone! This week I wanted to highlight Pendleton’s Country Market and my trip to their Butterfly Bio-Villa.

About Pendleton’s Country Market

Pendleton’s is a local family farm that started about 40 years ago. I love to visit the Pendleton’s booth at Lawrence’s Farmer’s Market as well as just driving out. It is located less than 2 miles east of Lawrence on K-10.

Here’s a snapshot of what their website looks like:

As you can tell, they always have a lot going on:

Take it on Tuesday blog hop #37: Cutting the Phone Bill

Using Google Voice

Hey, it’s Matt, the techie husband here.

While Betsy is rocking the food and DIY world and pinching every penny she can, I am attempting to do the same in the tech world. So, this TIOT focuses on a project I took on that has us now paying less than half of what we used to pay for our cell phones while retaining all of the smart phone functionality (including data).

The process started with these thoughts:

I started asking myself these questions:

- Why am I still paying $$ a month for cell service/home phone service when skype, imessage and [...]

pressed-flower-coasters-medium

As I’ve been thinking about the coming year and gift giving, my plan is to make more presents so we can save money. I still want to give something meaningful and useful, but I would like to spend little, if no money on it. Instead, I’m going to put time, effort, and thought into my gifts.

With Mother’s Day coming up, I set about the task of searching for something perfect for my mom(s). Here are some ideas:

The Money $aving Mom’s Budget

I have been a follower of the blog Money Saving Mom, by Crystal Paine for a little over a year. Her blog was one of the first blogs I started reading. It was after reading Crystal’s blog and others that I first wanted to blog more myself. I have been so inspired by her over this last year.

So it came as no surprise to my husband when I [...]

Simplify Valentine's Day: Frugal Valentine's Day Ideas & 2 printables

movie invite

We are spending little, if no money for Valentine’s Day this year. Last year was kind of special, since it was the first Valentine’s Day as a married couple (and both of us just happened to see items that we just HAD to get the other). This year, we HAVE to stick to our budget.

Menu Planning Monday: Using Pantry Items and Produce on Sale

Tuscan Tomato Soup

We’ve been eating out of the pantry and freezer this month. There are a couple of reasons:

1) We had lots of leftovers from the holidays.

2) We were low on money for groceries this month.

3) We wanted to clean out the pantry and freezer to make room for a healthier diet.

I’m really excited about this week’s menu plan, because it uses mainly pantry items and produce on sale this week! (I used The Prudent Homemaker’s Strictly Pantry Menu as an inspiration for most of this menu!)

Menu Plan Monday: Freezer and Pantry Meals

mealplanmonday

For now, I’m putting the Volumetrics diet on hold, while I clear out my pantry and freezer items. At the same time, I am using some meal ideas from the Volumetrics book (especially breakfast and lunch). We’ve been trying to have more vegetables and fruit with each meal. Here are some of the meals we enjoyed last week:

Breakfasts:

We pick one of the below items and have it with fruit, and coffee or tea:

Homemade Freezer Waffles

- 1 1/3 c. oatmeal, prepared with water, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 2 tsp. brown sugar

- [...]

Take it on Tuesday Blog Hop: Basement Curtains

As you read yesterday, I’ve was on a cruise for 10 days last week. I had scheduled last week’s DIY Home Management Binder printables for the blog hop, but I was not able to have internet access while on the cruise and thus was not very active on the blogsphere. I am excited to be back now!

Last week, my favorite projects were:
