I’m turning 30 this month!! AAhhhh!!!!! Crazy, right?

Remember my 30 before 30 bucket list?

 

Before my son was born I was pretty ambitious in what I wanted to accomplish the last month of my pregnancy and the two months following. Since I’m a first time mom, I didn’t know if my priorities would change after giving birth (which they did) and I didn’t know how much time I would have to devote to my bucket list (very little, if any).

For the months of May and June I had many goals, but what I really got done was:

2013 Monthly Goals: May - June

This year, instead of setting large, yearly goals I’ve decided to set monthly goals. I think this will help me to stay on track, plus it gives me the flexibility to change my priorities and focus in goal setting. Last year, by the end of the year I realized I didn’t WANT to accomplish everything I had set as a goal the beginning of the year. Also, this year I’m having a baby and who knows how that is going to change my world!

 

Here are the goals I have set for May – June:

Faith Focus: Self-discipline

1) Mindful Eating: Before I eat anything, I want to be mindful of the nourishment/benefit that the food will give me (or not give me if it’s potato chips, ice cream, etc.). I’m using the app MyFitnessPal to keep track of the food I eat and see that I’m getting 56 grams

2013 Monthly Goals Check-up

it always seems impossible until it is done

Hello all! Can you believe it’s March already?

At the beginning of this year, I decided to think about my long term goals and set monthly goals, not any yearly goals.

I want them to be more specific and easier to evaluate whether or not I’m staying on track.

I’ve learned that sometimes my priorities and goals change (like when I got pregnant). I don’t know what motherhood is going to entail completely and it would be hard to set goals for this whole year, since I will have a baby in June. So, I’ve decided to set goals for a few months at a time, instead of the whole year.

My focus word for this year is self-discipline. I am inspired to set my goals and really be diligent about following through.  Yet, I’m also going to give myself grace to change a goal or prioritize certain goals.

I’ve been doing some thinking on last year’s goals. I was very ambitious in my list and did not complete almost half of my goals. Though I did make some progress and it’s good to map out where you want to go. I just was to ambitious in what I wanted to take on at a time.

Project End of the Year Challenge - 60 days!

Thanks to inspiration from Barb, I’m joining in the on the challenge to pick 1-5 things I want to accomplish by 12/31/2012. That’s 60 days from now. I’m blogging about it, but all you have to do is:

I LOVE the simplicity of only picking 5 things and doing it for a longer period of time.

 

 

You know how I LOVE to come up with goals. Usually I am too optimistic in what I can accomplish.

I am definitely a list maker at heart. I L-O-V-E making lists.

In fact, I have been SOO looking forward to this point in my life (just ask my husband) in which I can write a list of 30 things I want to accomplish before I turn 30!!

The lists I make are often unachievable, because there is just so much I want to do, and I am often too optimistic about what I can fit into my life. So, for many of these goals I have listed both a task I KNOW I can accomplish and one I would like to accomplish that fits into the same category.

June’s Goals list Update

In January, I shared most of my goals for 2012. Then, I broke those goals down into monthly and weekly goals. For the month of May I achieved most of my goals through the accountability of posting it here, and with the encouragement of my husband!

 

This month I didn’t do as well, but I did spend the first few days of it on vacation and had family in town for a week. I’m excited for July – each month and each week is a fresh start!!
