Yesterday my husband and I went on a much-needed spontaneous date!! It was so much fun we didn’t spent any money (except at Costco). I just wanted to share what our “date” looked like and post other frugal date ideas!!
Costco
Costco was one of our first dates together. Matt’s dad had given him a membership card and 2 free Costco pizzas – they are HUGE and very tasty!!
For this trip to Costco we just grabbed some of the essentials – milk, cheese, olive oil, oatmeal, and ziplock bags (and snapped a picture).
We went to Costco over lunch time, so between the samples and a footlong Costco hotdog & drink for $1.50 we were set!!
After Costco we spontaneously decided to make this trip to Kansas City a date and just stick around longer. At first we didn’t know what to do, but them I remembered a garden I wanted to show Matt.
Kauffman Memorial Gardens
These gardens are SOO gorgeous!
They have HUGE hosta plants. We enjoyed just walking around and taking lots of pictures. Here’s the door I took a picture of and posted on Instagram earlier this month:
On the way home we passed by the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and I remembered that I needed to take a picture of Art for my photo a day for Instagram!!
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Walking around the museum sounded like a lot of fun, so we parked and walked up all those intimidating steps. We found out that we couldn’t look around because a wedding rehearsal was in process. Oh, well – we will have to go back sometime. BUT we were still able to look around the grounds of the museum and see art there!
My husband even took a picture of me trying to get the “perfect” shot for Instagram, but then I ended up using his shot of me taking a picture – it’s more creative that way.

That’s so romantic! A frugal summer date sound pretty cool, that’s the cutest thing I’ve heard about dating. I wish I could motivate my husband to do the same…Unfortunately, he has to work all-day long and doesn’t have any time for a whole day spent with me…I know it’s a shame…

I hope you get to spend some time with him this weekend and make a fun date out of it!!
