We are spending little, if no money for Valentine’s Day this year. Last year was kind of special, since it was the first Valentine’s Day as a married couple (and both of us just happened to see items that we just HAD to get the other). This year, we HAVE to stick to our budget.
Here are 10 Fun Frugal Date Night Ideas
Staying At Home
One thing that can make home more romantic is changing something up about your routine. Either make a change in location (i.e. eating dinner in the basement) or change something up about the room to make it seem new.
Fort Building and Movie Night
Recently, we pushed the two parts of our sectional together into a bed. We watched a movie and fell asleep right there on the couch. It was so fun and comfy that we did it a second night!
So, pick out a movie and watch it in a new environment. Then, make out during the DVD menu music.
Cook a meal together
Find a recipe you’ve never tried and make it together. Be sure to include some dessert!
Order take-out and then splurge on delicious cheeses and add fruit, crackers, and wine.
Exchange Love Letters
We were able to find a deal earlier this week through Cardstore. com for a free personalized Valentine’s Day cards for one another! Even if you can’t get one for free, they are very fun and still a reasonable price! I’ve also heard that TinyPrints was also offering a Free Valentine’s Day card!
Body Shop Date Night & Role Play
Write a list of 20 questions to ask each other or find one on the internet. Go over your answers afterward. Here is a list of 20 questions for married couples.
Go see a play
Whether at your local community theater, high school or a big production, there is plenty of entertainment available!
I found this idea on The Dating Divas. It sounded like so much fun!! Go to a bookstore with these tasks in hand. Split up, grab each of these items and meet back at a couch to share:
(The Dating Divas has 3 more fun tasks in her posts – check it out!)
If you have a truck or can borrow one, fill the back of the truck with blankets and pillows, cozy up with someone special and watch movies.
OR pack a picnic dinner and head out to the country for some star-gazing. It is an inexpensive and very romantic way to spend your evening with your valentine.
Try a new restaurant
Pick a restaurant neither of you have been and try it out! Who knows, it might be a new favorite! I would suggest checking out Restaurant.com and seeing what restaurants are in your area. Now through February 14th, if you use the promo code SWEETIE, you can get $25 restaurant gift certificates for only $2!! (If you are not sure what Restaurant.com is all about, check out this post.)
