Hello! I know I promised to reveal my wreath yesterday, but sometimes real life trumps blogging. In this case, “real life” meant going to our bi-annual Library sale and picking up a bag full of books for $5 and correcting Chemistry tests.
If you want to link up to Take it on Tuesday, join the party!! There are plenty of great projects to browse through (especially if you are looking for something fall inspired)!
Fall Leaves Wreath
This has been the easiest wreath I’ve made yet. If you have been reading this blog for awhile, you will know that wreaths are usually time consuming (Moss Wreath) for me, and sometimes even fail.
Well, I had seen Nest of Posies’ Fall Felt Leaf Wreath and instantly fell in love!! I thought about varying the wreath slightly, but I just love everything about it! The bright colors, the shape of the leaves. I had to have one of my own. Here is a picture of hers:
I actually went out and bought the materials. The wreath base was on sale for $2 at Hobby Lobby!! Felt is pretty cheap and the yarn I found in the clearance section for $3! The yarn is so soft – I need to make something special with the leftovers!
First
I kept the plastic on this wreath, then started wrapping the brown yard around the wreath and secured with scotch tape. I only wrapped half of the wreath.
Second
I used a template I found online at Enchanted Learning (it’s what Nest of Posies refers to) and traced the leaves onto the felt and cut them out. This is what took the most time. I arranged them around on the wreath to make sure I like the colors I chose and to make sure I had cut enough. 12 did the trick:
Third
I took 4 strands of colorful thread and sewed the stitches on the leaves. I love how colorful this looks!!
