June’s Goals list Update

In January, I shared most of my goals for 2012. Then, I broke those goals down into monthly and weekly goals. For the month of May I achieved most of my goals through the accountability of posting it here, and with the encouragement of my husband!

This month I didn’t do as well, but I did spend the first few days of it on vacation and had family in town for a week. I’m excited for July – each month and each week is a fresh start!!

Here’s June’s goal list with updates in blue next to each item:

Faith

1. Pray every evening with my husband. - We prayed most evenings. There were events which caused one of use to go to bed earlier than the other, so it wasn’t every evening.

2. Bible Reading in a year – read at least 36 chapters this month. - This is something my husband and I are doing together. We didn’t get as far as I wanted this month.

3. Memorize Colossians in a year – 2 verses a week! (I’m really going to start this in July, but I want to get a bit of a head start this month.) - I’ve been working this into my morning routine to view and write down some of the first part of Colossians. In July I start in earnest!

Wife/Marriage Goals

4. Read One of Us Must Be Crazy…. and I’m Pretty Sure It’s You by Tim & Joy Downs. - We started this book and it’s provided great discussion so far.

5. Weekly write a love note to Matt. - I didn’t do so well on this goal for June. :(

6. Call my sisters and my to talk on the phone at least 2 times this month, and hang with them at least 2 times this month.

Health

7. Run a second 5K with husband! (Continue to workout regularly.) – Nope, we have been struggling with what to do with all this heat – the highs have been 100+!! We are making a plan to start going to a Rec Center for July.

8. Lose 5 more pounds. - Gained 4 pounds on vacation, then lost 5 pounds.

9. Plan meals according to how many calories my husband and I want to consume each day (using theVolumetrics diet).

10. Start eating organic when it comes to the dirty dozen of foods (post on that later).

Home Management Goals

11. Hang shelves in basement. - Still have yet to do this, but we will be accomplishing it soon.

12. Compile a list of favorite recipes and calculate the cost for each recipe. - I have some of this done, but not all of my favorite recipes.

13. Weekly freezer cooking.

14. Use the sewing machine for at least one project.

15. Clean or organize for at least 15 minutes each day.

16. Check email only 2-3 times a day instead of every time I get a notification. (I’m turning my notifications off on the my phone!!) - This has been a nice step away from technology. I’m posting about another step we took to save money on technology soon!!

  • Boy… You’ve really got me thinking. I have so many goals. Maybe I should break them up. I love the idea of my husband and I reading a book together. Problem is I read really fast and he reads really slow…hmm

    • Thanks Emily. My husband actually reads faster than I do. We’ve decided to read section by section together, then stop to see if we want to discuss anything together. Then, at the end of the chapter we talk about the chapter as a whole. It seems to work well for us that way. So, there is a little bit of time Matt is waiting for me, but it’s broken up.
