4 Weeks to a More Organized Home: Cleaning out the Fridge

I’m joining in MoneySavingMom‘s 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home, even though I’m a couple days late.

Every weekday morning from November 5 to December 7 (skipping the week of Thanksgiving), Crystal will post the day’s assignment and then every evening she will share her progress and host a link-up for you to share your progress and pictures, too.

I love that this accountability will keep me doing something little everyday to keep the house organized. Most of her organizing assignments will only take 20 minutes or less! For example, here was the assignment for Day 3:

Day 3 Assignment

::Get dressed in something that makes you feel great {there’s something about dressing in clothes that make you feel great that just gives you more energy and zest for life! Get your free copy of SarahMae’s ebook, Frumps to Pumps, if you need more motivation in this.}

::Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, refer to your list of weekly goals, and make a list of no more than 5-7 specific things you want to accomplish today.

::Set the timer for 10 minutes and do a quick-clean of your bedroom: Do a quick clean-up, make your bed, and vacuum, if you have time.

::Set your timer for 10 minutes and do a quick clean-out of your freezer. If you have a deep freeze, don’t worry about cleaning it out unless you have extra time today. Have a lot of time and want some step-by-step help? Read this guide on How to Clean Out Your Freezer.

Since I started a little late, I’m combining Day 2 and Day 3 a little bit.

First, I started with the bedroom. Here’s the before picture:

Since it was laundry day, it was on my agenda to clean up the clothes and wash them anyway. I also spent the 10 minutes picking up the dresser and making our bed. Here is the result!

Next, I moved to the refrigerator. Instead of just spending 10 minutes on cleaning it out as Crystal suggested on Day 2, I wanted to spend 30 minutes on it, since it had been awhile. Here is the before:

I got rid of older/expired items and reorganized a bit. I also mixed baking soda with warm water to wipe down the door and the bottom of the fridge. Here is the door clean and organized!!

Then, the rest of the fridge. When I organize my fridge, I always try to set up a healthy fridge, with veggies and produce on the top – easy to see; leftovers and drinks on the bottom. See how much room I have on the top shelf? That’s great, because I’m going grocery shopping today and mostly picking up produce!!

So happy with my newly organized fridge!!
