Sorry all, last night March Madness prevailed so I didn’t get to writing this blog post until this morning. Since I live in Lawrence, home of the Jayhawks, this tournament is a big deal. I would say we did pretty well, even though we didn’t win last night. Ah well, moving on…

Project Declutter Week 2

We have been s-l-o-w-l-y (more slowly than I originally planned on) working through our house, room by room decluttering. I mean, I was supposed to link up to the lovely Spring Cleaning challenge. I have until Thursday – can I make it? Going through my clothes has taken a LOT of time, but I LOVE that I’m getting rid of so much I don’t use!!

Pinwheel Wall Clock

Before yesterday, my wall clock had been sitting empty for several weeks. I had taken the hearts down (because I was tired of them) and was not inspired as to what to fill it with that would represent spring…until I saw a guest post on {Little Green Bow}. It was Sarah’s {Renewed Upon a Dream} Spring Wreath with pinwheels that was my inspiration – it’s so cute!!

Materials

- leftover scrapbook paper
- scissors (or something to cut paper with)
- clear tape
- thread & needle
- buttons

Step 1: Cut out 2″, 3″, 4″, or 5″ squares using your leftover scrapbook paper. I used a variety of sizes on my wall clock. Then, fold diagonally in both directions and slightly crease the middle. This way you can see the middle of the square.

Step 2: Starting from each corner, cut towards the middle of the square, stopping about an inch and a half from the middle.

Step 3: Fold one side of each point towards the middle to make the pinwheel shape. Secure with tape on both sides. (I just trimmed the excess after doing so.)

Step 4: Done!! This is where I stopped for my smaller pinwheels.

For my larger pinwheels, I chose to sew a button in the middle to add some flare.

Here is my completed pinwheel wall clock. I chose to keep the background in the frame the simple cardboard, but I may change my mind and add yellow and light blue paper behind the pinwheels. Which do you think would look better?
